Robbie Muirhead officially became the first arrival of the summer when confirmed earlier this week but on a one-year deal with Conor Sammon and Faycal Rherras following soon after.

This duo were joining up for pre-season when the squad returns on Wednesday, at the time of Robbie Neilson commenting this wasn’t officially done….these deals are now.

Sammon and Rherras will be ‘two good players’ who will also be ‘good additions’ to the Hearts squad as far as Neilson is concerned with Republic of Ireland international Sammon signed on a free from Derby following his release.

He’s proven himself at the highest level in England playing in the Premier League for Wigan but didn’t enjoy too much successful with Derby but Neilson feels sure his previous form with Kilmarnock that took him to England can be seen again with Hearts, telling the BBC.

‘Connor gives us a bit experience upfront. He played really well when he was at Kilmarnock and got a big move to England. He has played at the highest level down there so I’m really pleased top get him.’

Sammon has signed a three-year deal with Hearts; as it has Rherras too.

The left back might have played at the highest level in Belgium, and has been in the Moroccan U23 squad at international level but the Hearts boss added he still needs to ‘develop.’

‘Rherras is a good addition at left back. He is young, he needs to develop. He has played at the top level in Belgium. He has recently been playing for the Moroccan under-23s. He is a good player and another we think we can develop.’

A ‘keeper is something Neilson still hopes to bring in by the 20th June deadline to register players for the Europa League qualification tie being played on 30th June.

He’s had players offered to be but hasn’t found ‘the right one’ with him happy, if needed, to go with youngster Jack Hamilton who ended last season in the side, finishing by saying.

‘There has been a lot of goalkeepers put to us and we are still going through it and trying to get the right one. Jack Hamilton did really well for us at the end of last season so we have got him who can play. We would like to get a couple more additions in but it’s proving more difficult than we had hoped. We will see how it goes in the next couple of days.’

Leaving is Gavin Reilly with the 23-year-old signed a season-long loan deal with Dunfermline.
