Hearts’ Scottish Premiership season continued with a win at Tannadice against Dundee United on Sunday.

A win, only the second that Hearts have managed since August, was secured as the Jambos returned from the international break with a one-nil win over Dundee United thanks to a penalty from Juanma.

A Spittal foul on Nicholson, as he cut in past Souttar, early on brought Hearts the chance to take the lead when a penalty was awarded, which Juanma (16) took and converted to get Paatelainen’s spell as Dundee United boss off to the kind of start he wouldn’t have wanted!

McGowan, who was tugged back by Juanma, thought he should have had a penalty too for Dundee United but this wasn’t awarded.

Facing a former side Swanson had a couple of chances, the first a strike from 25-yards that needed Zwick in the Dundee United goal to turn his effort over with the other straight at the ‘keeper.

Hearts ‘keeper Alexander didn’t really have much to do on the afternoon but any lingering doubts Hearts would see out the win was made sure when the latest card, with plenty shown during the game, handed to Spittal in injury-time with his second meaning he was sent off for another foul on Nicholson.

Despite this being the first win since August it was still enough, given such a flying start made by Hearts, to take the Jambos back up to third behind Aberdeen and reigning Champions Celtic who returned to the summit on Saturday, whereas Dundee United remain bottom.
