Hearts’ League Cup run goes on after a dramatic late win at Rugby Park against Kilmarnock on Wednesday.

Defeat was looking on for Hearts with Magennis’ goal set to take Kilmarnock through until Ozturk looked to have forced extra time. A second Magennis goal against had Killie 10-minutes from the next round but a dramatic finish to the game saw Juanma and Nicholson turn the game around and give the Jambos a three-two win!

This means Hearts’ name, which seemed unlikely, goes into Monday’s quarter final draw as the three-match losing streak also came to an end.

Kilmarnock, who have started to turn their form around of late after a poor start to the season, got off to a great start when Kiltie was able to beat Rossi and send a cross into Magennis (13) who headed Killie ahead, the 13th minute was unlucky for Hearts!

Nicholson had the best chance to draw Hearts level before the break but he was denied by Kilmarnock ‘keeper Ridgers, who signed on an emergency loan from St Mirren on Tuesday.

Ridgers again kept out a Juanma, who had come on for Swanson as Neilson looked for us to get back into the game, effort this time from a Nicholson cross with the equaliser finally coming from Ozturk (74) as he shot though a crowded penalty area to bring Hearts level.

Kilmarnock was soon ahead again though with Higginbotham given too much time, and space, to go forward to set up Magennis (80) who scored again and have the home side on course for the last eight draw on Monday once more….

Juanma (90) looked to have done what he was brought off the bench to do as he seemingly force extra time in the last minute when he headed home a Walker cross only for him to be involved again with his mis-hit effort falling to Nicholson (90) to grab an injury-time winner!
