If you score a 40-yard stunner as an equaliser against Hibernian as a Hearts player you’ll not really be able to do much wrong in the eyes of many Jambos fans after that would you!

You couldn’t really do much better than that either could you….well, if that 40-yard stunner was a winner! But you can’t have it all.

Alim Ozturk was, of course, the scorer of that goal at Easter Road, with that one of his four-goals for us in his 36 appearances us last season and he’s been confirmed as the new Hearts captain for the coming season.

On being appointed Robbie Neilson’s new skipper the defender told the Official Website.

‘Robbie spoke to me about responsibility and stuff like that. I need to help the young guys as well. I`ll do that and I tried that last year as well, I`ll do it now a little bit more.

‘I`m looking forward to passing on my experience and knowledge. I love to help the young players.

‘When I was young I was always happy when the players helped me. I will try and do that now.’

It hasn’t been a bad ride for the central defender since his arrival last summer has it? It’s one he’s loved every minute of so far but says being appointed as our captain is a ‘really proud moment’ for him with him ‘honoured to be captain of a club like Hearts.’

In fact he said this was this the proudest moment of his career!

The loss of Danny Wilson to Rangers was a loss for us in terms of his ability as a defender and his ability as a leader but Ozturk has proven what he can do and will lead by example upon our return to the Scottish Premiership.
